Coxsackievirus A6（CA6） is one of the main causes of herpangina and hand-foot -mouth disease (HFMD). The clinical symptoms include generalized rush, delayed desquamation, onychomadesis and so on. In recent years, CA6 has become the main cause of HFMD in adults.There is currently no effective treatment for CA6 infection.However, research in its epidemiology and vaccine has made certain progress with the increasing attention to CA6, which will play a key role in the prevention and control of CA6-related HFMD. This paper reviews the etiology, molecular epidemiology, clinical features and vaccine-related studies of CA6.
