 New York esophageal squamous cell carcinoma 1(NY-ESO-1) is a member of cancer-testis antigens. NY-ESO-1’s characteristic expression in multiple types of human cancers but rare presence in normal tissues, together with its ability to simulataneously elicit humoral and cellular immune responses, have rendered it a good candidate target for cancer immunotherapy. This paper reviews the studies of NY-ESO-1 association with cancers and the research progresses of NY-ESO-1 targeted immunotherapeutic strategies.
